Here is my teenage sons' room. It is very open so he is able to walk around and have friends over. The colors aren't to dark and the yellow isn't to bright. It has plenty of shelves for storage and a desk for homework. Above the desk is a window to let in some light. There is minimum lighting. To your left from the bed diagonal from the blue picture will be a walk in closet. One side of the closet had shelves the other had nothing. It bright to see everything you have.

This is the ideal picture of the girl room. It has a modern feel to it and a fun look. Filled with shelves for storage, a nice sitting area and a place for her toys. Its somewhat of a grown look for a 10 year old. She can grow up, have the same design but change the color. Below is the walk in closet to a cute sitting area.
